How to play
One Burger King photo, one world map, and everything the image lets slip. Here is what to look at.
The rules in five points

A game runs five rounds. Each round shows one or more photos of a Burger King drawn at random from the worldwide estate.

You get thirty-five seconds per round, except in No timer mode. The countdown runs on the server: reloading the page does not reset it.

Click the map to drop your pin, then confirm. Without a confirmation, the pin that stands when time runs out is the one that counts.

Your score depends on the great-circle distance between your pin and the real restaurant. Five thousand points maximum, plus a speed bonus if you answer quickly.

A separate counter tracks exact restaurants found: landing on the right Burger King, not merely on the right street.
The clues that work
A Burger King is a standardised brand: what changes from one country to the next is everything around it.
Menu language
The highest-yield clue. Order boards, price labels and promotional stickers are translated country by country. A visible currency (₺, zł, R$, ฿) narrows the world to a single country. Even unread, the script is enough: Cyrillic, Arabic, Thai, Hangul or Korean rule out whole continents.
Licence plates
On exterior shots the car park is a gold mine. A blue band on the left marks the European Union. Yellow rear plates point to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. North America uses a squarer, far more colourful format, often with no front plate at all.
Which side of the road
Check the steering wheel side on parked cars, the direction of the drive-through and where the kerbs sit. Left-hand traffic means the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand or Japan. It is a binary filter that removes half the estate in one move.
Vegetation and light
Palm trees and bougainvillea point to tropical or Mediterranean zones. Conifers and birches pull north. The sun angle and shadow length betray the latitude, and a shadow falling south at midday puts you in the northern hemisphere.
The architecture around it
The neighbouring buildings say more than the restaurant. Red brick and sash windows suggest North America or the United Kingdom. Roller shutters and rendered façades point to southern Europe. Concrete blocks and overhead cabling mean East Asia or Eastern Europe.
The weight of the estate
With clues tied, play the odds: roughly a third of the world's Burger Kings are in the United States, with Brazil, Germany, Spain and Turkey next. BK Guessr weights the draw by country so the United States does not swamp the game, but the statistics are still a good tie-breaker.
Scoring, plainly
A round's score decays exponentially with distance: five thousand points on the spot, a little under four thousand at a hundred kilometres, almost nothing on the far side of the world. The speed bonus is worth at most five per cent of the round score and only exists in timed modes. No timer mode is deliberately excluded from the rankings: without a time limit, anti-cheat based on answer time no longer means anything.
